Accept help

Whether you like it or not, once in a while, you will need to accept help. Spare everyone the misery, be hones to yourself and accept help when you see that work is too much or too complicated. Your ego may not agree, but you are putting unnecessary pressure on yourself if you think you need to manage everything on your own. We all need a break; and we all face problems which require input from others. Even if you think the solution is just pulling through, this may work in the short run, but in the long run, you may make the problem bigger than it is. For example if you are overworked, you can of course pull long hours at the office for a while. Remember to pay attention to the signs the body gives you though, in order to avoid falling into depression or burn out. That is helping neither yourself nor your employer. When the problem is more of a technical nature because it requires a certain expertise, you should also accept help. Because if you don’t, you might screw up and you or someone else will be left with the mess you created. Therefore, if you think you will lose time asking for help, think instead about the time you will lose if you have to redo the work from scratch. Be pragmatic and acknowledge your weaknesses. Roger Federer once said that the reason he feels so confident is because he knows his strength and his weaknesses. This is a powerful lesson.
